Fossils were found on the coast of Africa and the coast south America that were in the same dinosaur family. Witch helped Wegener figure that these creatures were once in the same place
Alfred wegener had lots of evidence like the very unusual fit of the coast line of south America and Africa, fossils of ice sheets were found in India which is now very hot, mountains in Europe and north America look the same, and fossils of the same animals are found in different continents
The 100% correct answer is A similar fossil was found in Africa, South America, Australia, India, and Antarctica.
Africa
Alfred Wegener noticed that the coast of South America seemed to fit into the coast of AFRICA, just like a jigsaw puzzle.
Wegener's showed that the age and composition of rocks in the on South America's east coast matched of those on Africa's west coast.
Well i know four that i tell : 1. Alfred Wegener saw the jigsaw fit between South America and Africa. 2. He found fossils of the same plants and animals on both continents 3. Evidence of glaciers in very hot and tropical climates : Africa, India, South America, etc. 4. Same rock type and age in the Appalachian mountains of North America and the Caledonians of Northern Europe
Well I know 4 Rock evidence mountain belt evidence fossil evidence puzzle piece evidence Hope it helped.......
According to Wegener´s theory, a landmass he called Pangaea covered more than half the planet. It drifted apart slowly over many millions of years. One example he uses as evidence is that the west coast of Africa appears to fit exactly into the east coast of South America.
Alfred Wegener's theory was rejected because he could not prove how the continents actually moved. He showed evidence of fossils from Africa and South America, but still coul not prove the convection surrents going on underground. Other geologists did not believe in his theory just because he was a meteorologist, not a geologist like themselves.
Wegener knew that fossil plants and animals such as mesosaurs, a freshwater reptile found only South America and Africa during the Permian period, could be found on many continents.
