regular unleaded or 87
It is not preferred or recommended it is required or you will do damage to the engine. Premium fuel of 91 Octane is required and must be used.

Per the owners manual 91 octane fuel (premium) is recommended. Using a lower octane decrease the performance of the vehicle.
91 Octane Premium Fuel. Use nothing less or nothing higher.

It runs. High octane is what is required by high compression engines in order to prevent pinging. Unless you put the hi octane fuel in the oil filler. Then it will only briefly run before it explodes.
