Not sure what a RIMM module is, but in general electronics we use metal plates to disperse heat. Removing plate will result in either a fire or fried electronics.
If it looks more like it has encapsulated something it may be there as a shield (ie stopping radio waves from entering or exiting module) as this may cause interference resulting in erroneous behavior.
It is a heat spreader. It keeps the module from over heating.
The aluminum plate that is available as a reference design for enhancing thermal performance of the RIMM.
The aluminum plate attached to a RIMM provides heat dissipation. It allows the memory to work at higher frequencies without overheating.
it is a heat sink, used to disperse heat away from the chips and to keep the memory cool.
It is the RIMM that come with the heat spreader with the aluminum plate
I dont know...... why dont you answer this by looking in the A+ technology book by Jean Andrews....... Im sure the answer is in there somewhere. Good Luck :) LOvE, me I believe its RIMM because it has the aluminum plate that acts as a heat spreader.

it's memory that uses RIMM technology that is gay....
RIMM sockets are connected in series. Therefore every slot needs to be filled by either a RIMM ram stick or the blank RIMM socket sticks.
C-RIMM
C-RIMM refers to a special slot on a motherboard. It stands for 'Continuity-RIMM.' It is used to fill in RIMMs that motherboards do not use because all of them must be used.
