PCV means "Positive Crankcase Ventilation." The valve allows crankcase fumes to be routed to the intake system where they can be burned in the engine. Replace the valve if it doesn't rattle when you shake it. If it doesn't rattle that means it's gunked up and isn't letting those gases through.

The PCV valve is located under the MAP sensor on a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix. The MAP sensor is in the upper plenum.
It's in the fuel tank.
i have a 98 grand prix gtp, and when mine came on i went to the local auto parts store and they were able to check it for free and got the codes, ended up being my egr valve
