If the light is on for the Grand Am Air Bag Unit, there could be a problem with the air bag. If not, the vehicle should be taken to a dealer for service of the air bag.
The air bag system did not pass self test at startup time and is nonfunctional. Lets hope it's just the fuse.
First make sure there is a good fuse for the airbag light in the fuse box. If there is not a good fuse for the airbag light in the fuse box, then the airbag warning light will show on the dashboard. If that is not your problem, you can have a mechanic read the code which will cost you at least $50, and will give an indication what the problem is. If that is not your problem, you can have the mechanic look at your air bag inflator and they can tell you if there is something wrong with the system.
