Fort Necessity
The American Revolutionary War was ended when British troops in Yorktown surrendered to American forces. The British were also blockaded by the French war fleet. The Peace treaty of Paris officially ended the war as Great Britain recognized the new American nation.

No war started at Fort Necessity. The Battle of Fort Necessity was an early engagement in what Americans call the French and Indian War and others call the Seven Years War. George Washington eventually surrendered the Fort to French forces, and in the process he signed a surrender document that the French used as one pretext for their continued belligerency.
