Bungie has said that they will be leaving the Halo series, but there partners in the series may continue with it. There partners (343 Industries) have been with them since basically the beginning so they may make a new halo game (Halo:Forerunner)
Bungie has stated that they will be doing a new project, but have not announced or started the project as they are still working with Reach.

∙ 13y agoi don't know if this exactly answers your question but they aren't going to make any more halo games. somebody else is taking over. reach will be the last halo game made by bungie.

∙ 12y agoChronologically, Halo: Combat Evovled is after Halo: Reach. The next game after Rwach was made has been suggested to be Halo 4. This has been near enough confirmed by Microsoft and 343.

No, Bungie is no longer working on halo games from what I believe, and by the way Halo reach is a prequel, not its own series, therefore it already has a sequel, Combat Evolved, the first Halo game, which is being remade by Bungie :)

But 343 Studios also has some Bungie Senior Staff to help make the next halo. But Bungie just does not want to keep making halo for money. Microsoft is the culprit here. Bungie makes it for people to enjoy and remember the halo series. So Now Bungie has nothing to do with halo anymore as of now. So all the games halo reach and before are in the past. The new games may or may not be the same.
