38Ar and 39Ar are our principal naturally occurring isotopes, produced in stellar nucleosynthesis, but depending upon the particular history, various stars have different ratios of various isotopes.

14C is generated in the upper atmosphere by the impact of incoming cosmic rays upon 14N, and this eventually distributes itself throughout the whole atmosphere. This nuclide has a half life of over 7 000 years, and is very useful for dating materials of archaeological interest.
