I belive its a # 16 gague wire in side the link but don't belive everything. just cross reference the year of your van and use the advised fusable link. GM Changed the style of the starter in the late 80's early 90's from the old large style,to a smaller hi torque starter like the Hot Rodder's use.To save weight and increase MPG.
The Hi torque unit Should draw the same current or less but it may draw more always
check the manual.
You didn't say what year, but they are connected to the starter terminal.
It's located on the end if the main power wire coming off the alternator. This wire connects to the starter. The fusible link is located on the starter end of the wire.

Mostly fusible link for starter solenoid is located very close to the battery or between the battery fuse and terminal.
there is a fusible link on the starter solenoid somewhere
There should be a fusible link on the lead to the starter and possibly one coming from the alternator, if you think you've burned a fusible link you've most likely actually blown the main 150 (?) amp maxi-fuse under the battery tray though.
