Women attempt suicide more than men, but men have higher suicide rates than women because they almost always use more lethal methods such as shooting themselves or jumping off a very tall building/structure. Women tend to use overdosing on pills, gasing the inside of their car, or other less aggressive methods.

∙ 14y agohuh. Good qestion. I think becsuse girls are more consuse of themselves and guys are not so sensitive. I hope your not thinking about doing anything like that. Once I woulod cut my wristes after a car accident I was in with my parents. I surived and they died. I blamed it all on me. I thought the only way to "release" my pain was to cut my wrists and have a diffrent pain fill my head, just so I could foget my parents. It hurt. A lot. And I hated it. But it was the only way....I thought. My boyfriend found out and got me help. Now we are deeply in love and I stopped cutting and I never feel the need to when I'm around him. * Females attempt suicide more than males, but more males succeed in the act, leading some psychologists to believe that females are more likely to seek attention by doing something that seems extreme, but males who commit suicide are seriously attempting to end their lives.

∙ 14y agoFemales have the most attempts, but they tend to use "milder" methods, like OD-ing on pills - which means that quite a few survive. Males make fewer attempts but usually use more violent methods and have a higher "success" rate, so more males die.
