Prometheus actually designed the animals and man and his brother Epimetheus gave out the gifts. Prometheus saved man for last but his brother had already given the best gifts to all the other animals. Man could think but was at a great disadvantage...which is why Prometheus stole and gave fire to man. For taking fire from the gods and giving it to man, Prometheus was chained to a rock where a great bird ate his liver each day. Prometheus would heal over night so that the punishment started again each day.
