They believed in Ometeotl(roughly translated as Dual Energy) which is cosmic energy and each form of this cosmic energy had different manifestations as in Tlalok for rain so each aspect of life had a different manifestation of Ometeotl not gods like these archaeologist are claiming each Ometeotl manifestation is.
