There may have other factors including the need for a president to represent the entire country in both state and domestic matters, a permanent congress in session annually, a standing navy and army, and other federal departments as the new country emerged on the world scene. As an experiment in representative government, some centralization of power was probably seen as unavoidable if this new country was to survive against itself, and hold its own with other nations.
The U.S emerged and evolved as a world power from 1900 to present because it acquired massive resources and materials during wartime production, technological superiority during the war, and of course the development of the Atomic Bomb. Also, the country built up its military strength and became a world power.
Early governments emerged because people found that being organized helped them survive.
