What grades do you need to get into LSE to study economics under the IB Program?

IB specifies that you can make an application with grade of 38. However, you are required to get higher grades in HL Subjects. However, that being so, many students do get that grade and a lot will depend upon your personal statement as also the fact as to how much better grade you obtain your IB course. The closer to 45, the better it is.

Why do you study economy?
Economics is the study of scarcity, and the allocation of resources in a system. This means how our resources (factors of production: land, labour, capital & enterprise) are used In microeconomics, it is the study of how a firm or industry allocates its resources to meet consumer demands for the good, and supplier's output. In macroeconomics, we study of how a nation's economy functions. In international economics, we study about trade and movement of resources between each countries. In developmental economics, we study how the growth of the countries lead to their development and growth. Here, countries are categorized into the under-developed, developing and developed countries. There is also a numerical side to economics - econometrics. In understanding economics, we understand how each system functions. We look for the problems with the different problems and consequences rising from each economic decision made. In the process, money is used as a tool for trade. People study the economy to identify patterns and trends in each decision made. In identifying problems and coming with solutions, we can solve for problems. Example, in 1930's, John Maynard Kenyes (the guy who developed the keynesian model with Aggregate and aggregate supply) identified that the government can play a very important role in controlling the economy, by using fiscal and monetary policy. If you look and compare the economic cycles of booms and recessions of many economics, you'll see a less rollercoaster like cycles of the economy due to government intervention). Here, the study of economics has improved methods to better allocation of resources, benefitting everyone in society as a whole.
