All mammals feed their young on mothers' milk, but there is one group of mammals known as monotremes which actually lay eggs. The platypus and echidna are both egg-laying mammals.

∙ 12y agoAll mammals are vertebrates that produce milk for their young ie they give birth to live young, carried in placenta, internally and the babies are raised , early on, on milk (eg humans, tigers, sheep, dogs, elephants, etc), but MONOTREMES are also vertebrates, (backboned animals) that feed their young milk but they lay eggs. The echidna and the platypus are monotremes and are found in Australia.
