Jimi Hendrix's first major recording was with the Isley Brothers (known for the original "Twist and Shout" later covered by the Beatles) but was eventually fired out for his stage antics, and tendency to draw the crowd to him, instead of the Isley Brothers. Afterwards, he joined Little Richard's band, and was fired for the same reason. After moving to England and making the Jimi Hendrix Experience, he gained major popularity in the United States after his Hit single "Hey Joe", followed by his appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival during the Summer of Love.
The "Jimi Hendrix Experience" was a band created by Chas Chandler which was focussed on Jimi Hendrix to give him the means to get his music out to the people, with Mitch Mitchell on drums and Noel Redding on bass, both formidable instrumentalists in their own right. Jimi (James Marshall) Hendrix was a unique talent. He had everything against him as a kid, but inspite of everything, he learned guitar and developed his own distinctive sound and style. He was left handed, had long fingers and was able to use his thumb as well. He wrote most of his own material and incorporated some brilliant harmonies between instruments and vocals.

If you mean the one by Bad Company (covered by Iced Earth), it's about a kid who pursues his musical dream and ends up dead. I'm thinking it may be about Paul Kossoff, the guitar player in Bad Company's vocalist and drummer's old band, but that's only me thinking. It is also about Jimi Hendrix, Janis Jopolan, and anyone else who became famous and soon died of drugs.
No and there will be none, kid.
