A man can wear his wedding ring on his right hand before marriage. However, when a man or a woman wears a wedding ring on the right hand it frequently means that person is a widower or a widow. Wearing a ring that way could send the wrong message.
because it is their engagment finger
To show the love and fidelity that you have for your husband/wife.
In North America, it is not customary for the man to wear an engagement ring. However, if a couple decides to break from the norm, the ring is to be worn on the same finger as the female, that being the ring finger of the left hand. In some cultures and in certain parts of the world, the man and/or woman would wear the engagement ring on the ring finger of the right hand and then make the switch after they are officially married.

If the ring is on the left hand, the finger next to the pinky, that usually indicates that he is married.
On the left hand ring finger.
Wearing a ring on the left ring finger means the person could be married; it could be a 'Promise to get engaged ring'; an engagement ring (all engagement rings are not always diamonds.) Sometime if a ring is given to someone that they care a great deal for, but are not in love with them they may wear the ring on the left hand because they are comfortable with it. Some single women will wear a wedding ring on their left hand just so men won't bother them.
Once you're married, tradition dictates that your engagement band be moved back to the third finger on your left hand. When you do so, your wedding ring should remain closest to your heart (where your spouse placed it on your wedding day) and your engagement ring is placed next to the wedding ring.
If you are an Orthodox Christian, it means you are married.
