It depends how hard you bite it. If its hard, you will generally have a nice cut, maybe some blood. It'll feel wierd for about a week and you're taste will be slightly affected. If, however, it is very hard, such as in an epileptic seizure, it is possible that parts of the tongue can actually be bitten off, especially at the sides of the tongue (although is is IMPOSSIBLE to swallow your tongue whole).
