Many of the rifles were taken home by the soldiers.

Some of the weapons stayed in government warehouses and others were given to states for their national guard armories.

Nearly all of the Civil War weapons were obsolete within a few years with the advent of repeating rifles using brass cartridges, so many of the weapons may have been scrapped.
