Plymouth Colony (sometimes New Plymouth, or Plymouth Bay Colony) was an English colonial venture in North America from 1620 to 1691.
Some of the colonists disagreed with the leaders of Massachusetts since they did not want to go to war with England. They held the opinion that Massachusetts has provoked the war and they should fight on their own.
I just learned about it and I believe it was because they went into a 20 year war with the colonists in 1622, and one of their leaders was killed by the colonists.
