After 1525 the emperor (altahaupa) promised a room full of gold and ransom. Pizzaros (the man that led incan invasion) men sacked many of the great Incan cities of all the gold. After the ransom was met, Pizzaro killed Altahuapa and left back to Spain.
Their last emperor had died and their was no longer a Inca empire! :O
The Sapa Inca, meaning 'Unique Inca' in Quechua, was the leader/emperor of the Incas. His subjects believed him to be son of the sun (hey lookit! homophones!) and treated him with utmost respect. When he died and was mummified, the Incas went on treating him as though he were a living person.
The last Inca emperor was a puppet ruler. He died 72 years after the Spanish conquest. Incas still exist in Peru. They still make suspension bridges over deep canyons. Some still keep Inca beads although no one knows how to read them.

The last emperor of the Inca was Atahualpa. His father Huayna Capac had died of smallpox in 1526 or 1527. The heir to the throne, Ninan Cuyuchi, also died. This left two of Huayna's other sons fighting for the throne. Atahualpa ruled from Quito, and his half-brother, Huascar, ruled the south from Cusco. At the Battle of Quipaipan, Atahualpa defeated Huascar. Because the Inca were so busy fighting each other, they were less prepared to fight Pizarro.
