What happen at a town meeting was that all the men from the town or village would meet at a certain inn and discuss important matters. They would usually talked with the mayor and other important people that had power n the these matters and they would usually do something about it.

They would talk about things such as:

  • How much food they had and how they wold ration it off
  • To vote on a new mayor or governor
  • How much livestock they had and if they were important enough not to eat
  • AND MANY OTHER SUCH THINGS

These were always fair and usually everyone got a say in what happened. It probably helped in developing democracy in America because everyone thought it was fair and good and no elected official wanted to get a town mad:)! And democracy lets the people decide and that is how it was back then so there's the connection.
