the struggle for Irish independence from Britain. there was a sizeable pacifist movement, content to follow the electoral road but a minority felt that an armed rebellion would have quicker and more positive results.
The Easter rising was a rebellion in Ireland in 1916 against British rule. It started on Easter Monday, the 24th of April, 1916. It primarily took part in Dublin, but in other parts of Ireland too. Rebels took charge of different locations around the city, most notably the GPO (General Post Office) on Sackville Street, which is now known as O'Connell Street, the main street in Dublin. Padraig Pearse, the leader of the Rising, stood outside the GPO and read the Irish Proclamation of Independence. The words of it now appear on a monument inside a window at the front of the GPO, where it can be read by passersby.
The Rising went on until Saturday the 29th of April, when the remaining rebels surrendered in Moore Street, quite close to the GPO. The Rising wasn't really a success and it didn't have popular support by the ordinary people of Dublin. However, all of that changed when a lot of the leaders were executed in the weeks that followed, changing public opinion. The 1916 Easter Rising put in chain a series of events that led to a War of Independence between January 1919 and July 1921, negotiations and a treaty between the Irish and British signed in December 1921, independence for what is now the Republic of Ireland and the creation of Northern Ireland in December 1922 and a civil war between those that were for or against the treaty between June 1922 and May 1923. So although the Easter Rising was short-lived and not very successful, it was a significant event in Irish history. Because of this 2016 is a significant year in Ireland with a wide range of things commemorating the centenary of the Rising throughout the year.
The Easter Rebellion was an armed uprising in Ireland against British rule that begun in Dublin on Easter Monday, 24th April, 1916. Although the rebellion was unsuccessful, it is seen by many as a significant step on the road to an independent Ireland.
It was an attempt to start one, but it failed.
This is why it is only called a "rising". A revolution is the forcible overthrow of a government or social order in favor of a new system.
An uprising is an act of resistance or rebellion; a revolt.
The Easter Uprising of 1916 in Ireland was an attempt by some Irish Repbulicans to throw the British out of Ireland.
During Easter Week of 1916. It lasted only a week because the commander of the rebels was horrified by the civilian casualties.

The Easter Rising is so-called because it started on Easter Monday, the 24th of April 1916. It continued throughout Easter week until Saturday the 29th of April. It really has nothing to do with Easter itself, so at a stretch you could only say something like a link between Resurrection and Rising.
