YES... THE SEVENTH-DAY -- the Sabbath [REST] day FOR MAN, whom God created on the sixth day:

"...'The Sabbath was made for the benefit of people, and not people for the benefit of the Sabbath. And I, the Son of Man, AM MASTER EVEN OF THE SABBATH!'" (Mark 2:27-28 NLT New Living Translation)

John tells us that Jesus was and IS the Creator God of the "Old Testament": "He created everything there is. Nothing exists that He didn't make." (John 1:3 NLT)

The Fourth Commandment reads: "...the Seventh day is a day of rest dedicated to the LORD your God [that is; Jesus Christ, the Creator, WHO MADE IT!]. On that day no one in your household may do any kind of work..." (Ex.20:10 NLT).

There is absolutely "no accounting" for the EXISTENCE of the modern time frame of the repetitive "seven-day WEEK"... except that "it was Divinely Inspired by God" at the time when time was created. Time is "physical"... the result of the orbits, rotations and movements of the created planets as seen from a fixed point [in man's case] standing on the earth.

But, there is no "natural, physical" accounting for a repetitive seven-day week in these physical orbits and rotations. As Jesus points out in Mark 2... He made the repetitive seventh-day for MAN, designed in God's image [to one day become God's Immortal Children - see Rom.8:16]... for man to REMEMBER CREATION! To remember his Creator. To continuously BE RENEWED, physically and spiritually, IN the Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding of his Creator every seventh-day.

This is the main thing God created in Genesis 2. The number 7 figures prominently throughout God's Word in a number of ways and levels. God made the Sabbath Day for man TO REMEMBER HIM. The Sabbath Day is to be REMEMBERED every seventh day of the week -- so that man won't FORGET HIM.

Which has become the case in the world, that fails to keep it... and has failed to remember creation; teaching instead 'evolution'... creation without a Creator.

The remainder of Genesis 2 is not a contradiction of Genesis 1... but "supplemental details." Supplemental details of what went on in the first six WORK days of the preparing of the earth to sustain man.

Genesis 2 tells us that God created the seventh-day by RESTING! And BLESSING it.

"...God BLESSED the seventh day and declared it HOLY, because it was the day when HE RESTED FROM HIS WORK OF CREATION." (verse 3)

The "work" of refashioning and repairing the "ruined, wasted" earth [see Gen.1:2] to sustain man was completed by the seventh day [the seventh day, which is for the ongoing growth and character development of man's spirit; "...the LORD, who... formed the spirit within humans." - Zech.12:1 NLT].

So, God's work on man, himself, is NOT yet complete; the perfecting of man [God's future Children and Family] through Christ, man's Creator and Savior.

"...My Father NEVER STOPS WORKING, so why should I?" (John 5:17 NLT)

As Halley's Bible Handbook says about Genesis 2's reference to the Garden of Eden:

"...'Tree of Life'... may have been an actual food of Immortality, indicating that Immortality is dependent on something outside ourselves. This tree will again be accessible to those who have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb (Revelation 2:7; 22:2, 14).

'Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil'... was 'good for food,' 'a delight to the eyes,' and 'to be desired to make one wise'... Whatever the exact nature of this Tree, literal, figurative or symbolic, the essence of Adam and Eve's sin, in part, at least, was this: Transference of Control of the their lives from God to Themselves. God had, in substance, told them they could do Anything they wanted to, EXCEPT that One Thing. It was a Test of their Obedience. As long as they refrained, God was their Master. When, in spite of God's command, they did that One Thing, they made Themselves their own Master. Is not that the essence of Human Sin? From the beginning God designed Man to LIVE FOREVER, the one condition being Obedience to God. Man failed. Then began the long, slow process of Redemption, by a Savior, through Whom Man may regain his lost estate. Only in Obedience to God is Life."

(Halley's Bible Handbook/with the King James Version: Classic Edition; Genesis chapter 2:4-17 The Garden of Eden, p.63)

So, Genesis chapter 2 is "supplemental" to chapter 1. It begins with the "creation" of the seventh-day of the week; the Sabbath Day. And provides some background [perhaps, spiritual] details regarding the "continuing spiritual creation and development" of the inner man, that resulted from the "two trees" in the Garden of Eden.

With further details and specifics of the "continuing creation" provided throughout the rest of God's Revealed Word. "I AM the True Vine [tree], and My Father is the Gardener." (John 15:1 NLT)

"Yes, I AM the Vine; you are the branches. Those who remain IN ME, and I IN THEM, will produce Much Fruit. For apart from Me YOU CAN DO NOTHING." (verse 5)

God [Jesus Christ, the WORD of God] did indeed "create" in Genesis chapter 2. He created the Sabbath Day, whereby His creation can REMEMBER Him... and mankind may renew himself in his Creator, weekly.

And Genesis chapter 2 provides symbolic, spiritual insight that God's redemption of His creation is still going on.

Genesis chapter 2 is "supplemental" to the physical creation in chapter 1. It's also a study in "what comes next" in the "spiritual creation" God has been working on since.

"For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who His Children really are." (Rom.8:19 NLT)

In the second creation story, in Genesis chapter 2 (beginning at Genesis 2:4b), God created man (Adam) then all the animals and finally a woman (Eve). He did not create the world, which was pre-existing, nor the plants, which were already in the ground waiting for it to rain (Genesis 2:5).

No, the overview or outline of the creation events (original physical Universe only alluded to in Genesis 1:1) of the 'renewal' of the face of the Earth for mankind took place in the rest of chapter 1. Since man is God's pinnacle creature potentially destined to become spiritual God beings themselves, more details of this special creation of their physical start are given in the following Chapter 2, which can be easily deduced if read openly and without bias.

God has completed His renewal of the Earth and rests - sets aside the Sabbath as a special day for mankind to consider the Creator by resting and assembling together.
