Although George Washington was the first President of the US and served for two terms, he was never "in" the White House. The first president to live in the White House, then called the President's Palace or the Presidential Mansion, was John Adams.

Further, it was not called the White House, even informally, until 1811 at the earliest. That term was not used as a formal or official designation until 1901.
