Moses had two sons by his first wife Zipporah, Gershom and Eliezer. Moses had no children with his second wife, who is unnamed but described as being Cushite. Eliezer was just a baby or a toddler at the time of the Exodus, and is the unnamed child mentioned in Exodus 4: 24-26. Zipporah and her sons most likely left soon after this incident to Midian. When Eliezer was reunited with Moses along with his family in Exodus 18, (the Exodus took two years, plus journeying to Mount Sinai probably would have taken several years, along with the additional years of Jethro, Zipporah, Gershom and Eliezer journeying to meet Moses) Eliezer was roughly 10-13 years of age upon meeting his father. Gershom at the time of the Exodus was an adult, with a family of his own, this can be shown by Exodus 10:1-2, "....now the Lord said to Moses, 'Go in to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart, and the hearts of his servants that I may show these signs of Mine before him, and that you may tell in the hearing of your son - (Gershom)- and your son's son -(Gershom's son, Shebuel/Shebael)- the mighty things I have done in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them, that you may know I am the Lord.'...."

The Lord spoke in present/future tense. "Your son" meaning Moses already had a son and "your son's son" meaning Moses' son already had a son. Notice that in Exodus 2:22, it only mentions Moses and Zipporah having ONE son, Gershom. Then in Exodus 4:20, it mentions "sons" meaning Eliezer and Gershom. In Acts 7:29, it mentions that Moses had two sons in Midian. Judging by the way Eliezer is very rarely mentioned, we can say that there is a big age gap between Moses' two sons.
Moses married Tsiporah, daughter of Yitro, the priest of Midian.

They had two sons: Gershom and Eliezer. Neither son ascended

to any position of unique responsibility or leadership in Israel.
