2009 - Defeats Metal Gear: RAY with the help of Solid Snake and beats Solidus Snake as well.
Late 2009 - Gets with Rose.
2010/11ish - His and her child is conceived.
Late 2011 or early 2012 - So called miscarriage (child was born). Memories from the First Liberian Civil War as a child soldier start to resurface. He then begins to drink heavily and leaves Rose.
2012 or late 2013 to early 2014 - He undergoes the Cyborg Ninja program.
2014 - Liquid Ocelot's Insurrection

Raiden is actually from MGS2. But, Ivan Raidonovitch Raikov do looks surprisingly similar to Raiden.
What is the difference between MGS2 and MGS2 substance?
The difference of the two games MGS2 is just a normal game but MGS2 Substance is a way cooler version of said game like you go skateboarding in it or challenge the bosses it also VR Training gives you a European extreme setting and a casting theater which is way cool cause you can change characters in the cut scence like you can change snake into Raiden or Raiden into Ocelot or Otacon into vamp , so basically MGS2 Substance is way better than MGS2

There's no missions in MGS2. Raiden has a mission but that's it.

Should you buy mgs2 or mgs3?
My recommendation is that you purchase Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence for PS2. Metal Gear Solid 2 and MGS2: Substance are great games. In fact, it was the first MGS game that I played. But it is mainly about Raiden. Trust me, I have no problem with raiden but Solid Snake or Naked Snake (Big Boss) are much cooler. Also, if you have a PS3 you should definitely rent/buy MGS4: Guns of the Patriots.
Did raiden love rose in mgs2?
Yes, he did. It is shown in the game that he loved her deeply; it was his horrible memories of his past and his own self-loathing that kept him from getting too close to her. At the end of the game, he forgives her for everything she did and they try to start a new life together. Their relationship is expanded in MGS4, where it is shown that they continue to love each other despite everything that happened between them. They reunite in the end with their son and start over as a family.
