When Angel and Co took over Wolfram & Hart after the Jasmine fiasco, Connor was all messed up in the head (he took a bunch of people hostage in some mall and dad had to come and open a can of some corporal punishment on him). So Angel's only stipulation in taking over Wolftram & Hart was that they create a new life for Connor, where he had a nice normal family and nice new memories to go with, and none of the normal "human borne of two vampires, raised by vampire hunter in chaotic, survival-of-the fittest dimension" baggage that made him the angsty boy-warrior we came to know and love. He eventually regained his original memories but decided to keep the life his real father gave to him, recognizing the sacrific Angel had made.
