Pluto is still a planet but it is now considered a dwarf planet. Pluto's re-categorization as a dwarf planet was voted upon by a panel from The International Astronomical Union, the governing body in charge of naming space objects.
None. There are no "priveleges as a planet" to be stripped. And an inanimate object wouldn't miss them anyway. Pluto was recently stripped of its title as a planet. But it didn't lose any priveleges because of it.
No-one knows.
IN 2006, the International Astronomical Union voted that a planet must meet three qualifications. 1. It must orbit the Sun, not another body. 2. It must be massive enough to have been crushed into a spherical shape by its own gravity. 3. It must have "cleared the vicinity of its orbit". Pluto meets the first two criteria, but because there are many other (possibly millions of other) bodies in the Kuiper Belt of assorted mass and debris beyond Neptune, Pluto has not "cleared its orbit" of other bodies. Like Ceres in the Asteroid Belt, Pluto was demoted to "dwarf planet" status. This third requirement is fairly controversial, as astronomy goes, and the next IAU convention may revise it.
No. Such an event (1) would be a violation of some of our most fundamental understanding of our Universe and (2) has never happened in any planet, star, or galaxy that we can observe.
People had mixed reactions to the International Astronomical Union's decision to reclassify Pluto as a "dwarf planet" in 2006. Some agreed with the scientific reasons behind the decision, while others, including the general public, were nostalgic and upset to see Pluto lose its status as the ninth planet in our solar system. The decision sparked debates and discussions within both the scientific community and the public.
oh wow. you people don't know? pluto ALREADY left it's orbit last year!(2012) next time watch the NEWS.
Did you lose your Ipod touch? If you did check the car, your room, the last place you saw it, bathroom, downstairs, upstairs, and every place you can think of. and next time please be more pisifice please.
it never happened
No that is impossible. Gravity is related to mass, so while a planet still has mass it still has gravity.
They will lose their job, but you won't lose your job if you are the company owner.
you lose a peanut and feel stupid
