In brief, six million of them were killed. There was a lot of suffering and degradation involved.

In the Holocaust the Jews were subjected to genocide. About 6 million Jews perished at the hands of the Nazis and some of their Axis allies.

• They were deprived of the possibility of earning a living and were made dependent on Nazi 'good will' for all their needs.
• They were herded into overcrowded ghettos, with grossly inadequate food and usually no medication.
• They were transported by rail in cattle trucks to forced labour and extermination camps.
• In the camps, those fit for work were - for the most part - worked to death on insufficient food; the rest were gassed as soon as practical after arrival.
• In many parts of the Soviet Union they were rounded up and shot by the Nazis and collaborators.

The Jews were transported to concentration camps like cattle. They lost all humanity because: they were beaten, raped/molested, were fed rations, and had to do endless labor. 6 million Jews were killed and about 1.3 million survived. SS officers were always German and treated Jews like vermin.
