Nothing happened, as far as we know. According to the General Mills website, both the cereal and the mythical rabbit still exist. Perhaps you no longer see commercials for Trix as much as you used to, but that is mostly because cereal companies vary the products that they advertise. Given that the Trix rabbit has been around since 1957, you may again see General Mills giving Trix an advertising buy at some future point; and the rabbit may once again be a part of the commercial.
