Some times, if this happens it could be a sign of abnormal or dysfunctional uterine bleeding; when the complex hormonal processes of the menstrual cycle are interrupted, it results in estrogen and progesterone levels that are out of balance which causes the excessive bleeding. This bleeding is related to irregularities of your menstrual cycle without any disease. So before jumping into conclusions its better to see you OB to make sure things are ok. Who knows it could be something as simple as hormone imbalance.
