When does the moon pass from the full moon phase to the new moon phase and back to the full moon phase?

A full moon happens when the Earth is between the moon and the sun. During a full moon, the sun's light can be seen reflecting off of all of the side face of the moon. A new moon happens when the moon is between the Earth and the sun. During a new moon the sun's light does not touch the side of the moon that faces earth.
The crescent moon is a phase in the lunar cycle and looks like only a sliver of the moon is lit up around one edge. This happens as the Earth is moving between the sun and the moon blocking almost all of the light that shines on the moon. The crescent shape happens once just prior to a new moon and once just after a new moon.
