At the end of the book Kira- Kira, Lynn dies and a funeral is organized for her safe rest. Katie and every Japanese family (Including Hank, Silly and her mother.) living there joined together to pray. In the end, Katie with sadness and grief, learned to overcome it and live a hopeful life where she is promised to do her best and take care of her family. She also accomplished doing the things her sister has always dreamed of doing. The theme of this story is love, hope, and strength for the characteristics Katie showed in her situation.
