What is A mini circuit breaker that responds to shorts or contact with water?

GFI is a mini circuit breaker that responds to shorts or contact with water

What is an earth or ground continuity conductor?

An earth or ground conductor that is used for continuity throughout the home is the ground conductor that is found in cable wire sets. What it is used for is to bring everything that it is connected to down to the same potential which is zero. The grounding circuit is a low impedance circuit. If a fault occurs on any equipment and shorts out to ground, this conductor being directly connected to the distribution panel, carries the fault and trips the breaker feeding the faulted circuit.

How a fuse controls the flow of electric current in a circuit?

A fuse does not control the flow in a circuit, it limits the current in a circuit. If the load in a circuit shorts out the fuse link melts and opens the circuit and stops the current flow and prevents the wires feeding the circuit from melting and catching fire. resist

What device can break an electric circuit?

There are 2 different types of these devices: circuit breakers (which can be reset after the problem is fixed) and fuses (which must be replaced after the problem is fixed).

What is the use of neutral wire?

The neutral wire is a return wire for the current in an electrical circuit. Do not confuse for the ground wire which is also a return wire but is used in the event the connected appliance shorts to protect the user from electrical shock. The neutral is actually very similar to the ground, though. In a residence the neutral comes from the power plant, whereas the ground comes from a ground rod below the meter. In most older homes the ground and neutral were connected to the same bar in the breaker box. In newer homes they now have separate bars. Here is something interesting about the neutral wire. If you are testing a live circuit using a static checker, the neutral will not show a charge, only the hot wire will. However, if you had a circuit controlling some device (maybe a light fixture) and the light fixture was in the on position, but the neutral was cut you would notice the two wires slightly sparking when you touch them together. If you were to complete this circuit with your body you will get shocked or electrocuted. If the device were in the off position you would be safe, but don't take any chances when working with electricity. Turn off the power first.

In relation to electric what does the term fault protection mean?

Protective devices - relays, CT,PT, isolators, circuit breakers are used for fault protection. Fault protection means If there is a fault in the circuit, the circuit must be cut off before any damage occurs due to fault.

What are the uses of an insulator in a circuit?

To keep shorts from happening.

How can you locate a Ground Fault break?

A ground fault happens when (usually mains) electricity is conducted outside it's intended path and tries to get to ground by the shortest path. If you touch something 'hot' electrically while you are grounded, or are also touching something that is grounded, you will become that shortest path to ground and will be shocked and possible killed. A ground fault can occur in normal mains wiring. For example, if a conductor is not properly insulated and it touches another conductor or the conduit it runs through it can can 'short circuit' to ground causing a ground fault. A ground fault can also occur in a defective or miswired electrical receptacle or appliance. To find the fault you have to be familiar with wiring for the structure in question, and have to trace the wiring through it's circuit, possibly to the mains connection to the structure. For example, if you know that certain problem plug receptacles in a particular house are on their own circuit, you can open them and may be able to visually check for shorts and that the wires are connected properly.

If a parallel circuit shorts at the battery will the entire circuit short out too?

If at battery, parallel circuit shorts then equivalent resistance of circuit becomes approximately 0 Ohms, and therefore as current follows low resistance path infinite amount of current due to low resistance will flow through the wire so,entire parallel circuit will short out,but wire will burn and battery may get damaged. Name:Sumit Karnik.

How are appliances protected from power surges in three-pin plugs?

With a surge protector. The surge protector opens the circuit if a surge is detected. The third "pin" is connected to a ground wire to protect the circuit from a short and to dissipate "stray" charges. Overload breakers protect users and equipment from overloads , usually caused by shorts, by heating up and opening the circuit.(same as a surge protector.)

What is the difference between Jamaica shorts and Bermuda shorts?

Jamaica shorts end at the knee, while Bermuda shorts end slightly past that length, but well before the calf.

Why does a 555 timer blow up?

Check for shorts to ground from your output pin

What does it mean for an electrical circuit to have a short?

Shorts are usually a style of clothing that prevents one from exposing private areas otherwise unacceptable in a public setting. Electric shorts look much better when put on gradually or slowly. Another interpretation comes from short meaning small. When a circuit is in the beginning process, it is considered to be an "Electrical short circuit".
