If driving around in a car that the o2 sensor is going bad can cause a few things to go wrong. The best thing you can do is get it fixed.
YOU HAVE TO DRIVE IT TO HELL AND BACK Most likely either the wires to the vehicle/turbine speed sensor are broken or the vehicle/turbine speed sensor is defective
I4 has upstream sensor in the exhaust manifold. You should be able to see it when open the hood. Downstream sensor is in between passenger and drive's seats (from beneath). V6 has usually 3 to 4 sensors 2 upstream sensors in 2 exhaust manifolds (front and rear) and downstream sensor(s) close the front seats.
Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine in a Mercury Mountaineer Sensor 2 is in the exhaust after the catalytic converter ( downstream )
It is irresponsible to drive a defective car.
can you drive with a faulty cam sensor for a while?
Definitely not a good idea.
Normally the alternator is defective. It can also be a loose alternator drive belt, or defective voltage regulator.
No, If you car is defective and you drive it then, not only are you putting yourself in danger, you are also endangering your passengers and any other road users you may hit. I believe it is also illegal to drive a defective car.
In the floppy drive
Misalignment? Defective starter drive? Seized engine? Defective starter solenoid? Burnt out starter?
yes
I have had this experience more then once. Your speed sensor is the cause. The transmission changes gear based on the info from this sensor. When defective it doesn't register the speed correctly. To check this, watch your speedometer as you drive. if it is dipping low while you are accelerating then the sensor is bad. You need to have the transmission computer checked for codes. When the computer detects a problem it sets a code and locks the trans in 2nd gear. The output speed sensor mentioned above could be one of dozens of causes.
