The President appoints a new Vice President, who must be approved by Congress.
The vice president is promptly sworn in as President if the President dies or resigns. This unfortunate event has already happened nine times in US history.
The Vice President Will step In
If the Vice President dies the president remains president.
The Vice-President
The Vice President of America.
None. There is NO "vise"-President. In the US we have a ViCe-President.
If the President of the United States dies while in office, the vice president will be immediately sworn in. The vice president will finish out the presidents term.
If the President dies (or is permanently incapacitated), the Vice President succeeds to the Presidency for the remainder of the President's term. If there is sufficient time involved, a new Vice President will be nominated to serve the Vice President's term. If the President is alive but temporarily incapacitated, there is a complicated procedure for allowing the Vice President to act as Acting President temporarily, as spelled out in the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution. The amendment considers the cases where the President voluntarily yields his powers or when he does not, as well as the process of returning the powers to the President if he recovers.
"If the President is convicted in an impeachment trial" (or dies), "the President is the only person who loses his office. The Vice President would become the President upon the conviction." -US Constitution
Yes! The Vice President, the the Speaker of the House. This is the current line of succession: http://www.patriotstoolbox.org/america/presidentiallineofsuccession.htm
Amendment 25 gives a process for filling a vacancy in the office of vice president. What happens is that the new President names someone to fill the position and if both houses of Congress approve, he becomes vice president.
IF the VP dies the president would still be the president
