Levothyroxine is to help regulate your thyroid which is very important to your metabolism. Not taking your levothyroxine can result in feeling the usual effects of hypothyroidism like puffy face, weight gain, constipation, and depression to name a few. It is important that a regular schedule be kept because even though levothyroxine can help it can also be toxic if taken in excess which is why many doctors order screenings after a few weeks of treatment to make sure the levels of medication are only doing good for the patient.
