If you want to feed him twice a day cut his portions in half. Don't feed him more than he can eat in two or three minutes in a day. It's a good idea to not feed him once a week to allow his digestive system recoup and keep him from getting constipated. If he his constipated (he is bloated and you don't notice any (or any new) little droppings in his tank) you should fast him for 24-48 hours then peel a cooked pea and feed him a small amount and wait about 24 hours, it should remedy the situation.

A fish's digestive system can rupture if it is over fed. Over feeding will also cause the fish to produce more waste than it normally would. Additional waste will cause the water in the aquarium to be polluted much sooner. Extremely polluted aquarium water is dangerous for fish and can kill them.

Yes, they can be overfed easily.

They are prone to constipation for this very reason.

They should be fed between 4-10 betta pellets a day on average. Most people will also fast them one day a week to help keep their digestive system efficient.

Others will feed them a cooked de-sheeled pea once a week as this acts as a laxative to clear out any waste build up.

All species of fish stop eating when they have had enough. They can not be overfed. When someone refers to "overfeeding fish" they are referring to excess food being left in the tank to putrefy and poison the water thereby killing the fish. When feeding fish one should only add small amounts and one must stop adding more food as soon as the fish stop feeding. Any left over food in the water (tank) must be removed. (A syphon hose will do this job quickly and easily). All species of fish including Bettas must have their water looked after properly if they are to survive. The basic rules of successfull fishkeeping are. :- 1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water. (a Betta is a 3 inch tropical fish) :- Every tank must have a permanently running filter. :- Every tank must have at least 50% of its water replaced every week.

Let it be for a few days, three would be fine, then feed it normally, try not to overfeed any fish, they will die if they are over fed constantly... betas are extremely touchy with overfeeding, and don't leave any left over food in it's bowl.

Is it all right if you do not feed your fish for two days?

Depending on the size of your fish, you could go a week without feeding them. Better to let the fish be a little hungry than to potentially overfeed with an automatic feeder and foul the water.
