It should be safe to dry clay in a microwave, but it would not be practical. The clay won't get dry at all. Using a regular oven, or just leave the clay on a shelf would be the best bet to dry clay.
A microwave is not a good choice for hardening clay. A conventional oven at a very low temperature is better.

get a plain stick. Try and make sure it doesn't have any bumps or branches coming out of it. Next, get some clay and design it how you want to. Put the clay completely around the stick, then engrave things or put more clay on top of the stick 2 design it. once you're done designing put it in the oven to harden the clay.

They melt into mushy clay substance and remold into another shape and harden.
