This is a very good, and important, question. Some books are revolutionary. Within their pages we find ideas and realities that are tough to face, profound, and often critical of the society we live in.

If you live in the United States, you will not be jailed if you read a banned book. However, if you choose to check certain books out of a public library, such as The Fountainhead or Moby Dick, your name will be included on a list of potential terror subjects through the Patriot Act.

Often, the main consequence of reading banned /challenged books is a greater understanding of the world in which you live. Unlike many books, banned books often discuss genocide, sexuality, and parts of history that are otherwise ignored. In other words, your intellect will be challenged.

Happy reading!!
