Not true. I was prescribed 8mg Hydromorphone 3x daily as needed 5mg Methadone 3x daily and 5 mg Valuim Diazipam 1x daily at night!! I did not like the Methadone at all!! I mean it did the job pain wise very well, but i didnt like the side affects. i even quit the Hydromorphone and Valium to see if it would matter and it did not it still did great for the pain but made me sick and feel really off. I am now on MS Contin and the hydromrphn and vluim Hope this helps
I was on methadone for almost 10 years at one time was off for almost 5 and am back on. I am getting a triple back fusion next Monday and I fear them giving me the wrong medication as 2 hospitals have done in the past. When I gave birth to my son I was given a drug called "Nubaine" (opiate)that put me in immediate methadone withdrawl while having labor pains 3 minutes apart and they left me like that for 3 hours until they found 80mgs of methadone throughout the entire hospital. They were supposed to be ready for me when I arrived, for I called ahead, and they were not prepared whatsoever. Another situation, went to a hospital for the back injury I spoke of getting fixed earlier and they gave me demeral, once again I was put into immediate withdrawl. After each happened I went back to the clinic on my next dosing day and they actually laughed about how sick I must have got while giving labor from the "nubaine" (my son almost died when being born, he was under complete duress and had speech problems for years, now is fine at 10 years old), this showed how incencitive the clinic was towards my well-being at one of the most beautiful moments of my life and the suffering I went through, they just didnt care, ugh. So far I know they are two and I do know there are 3 more that will definetly put you in withdrawl but the names of them are so hard to pronounce let alone remember but I do believe they were a type of opiate (not many I havent taken from a broken back with herniated discs....tired of pain management, time to get it fixed. I hope my experience helps someone else not go through what I did.....ever and would love for someone to share with me also any other drugs that cause withdrawl. I had been on many benzos, depression, and bi-polar meds when on the clinic and none of them caused withdrawl, something happens with certain other opiates that kicks the methadone out (dilaudid, as mentioned above, was fine when given those on methadone).
what other drugs can make you test positive for methadone
Yes, methadone is used to treat withdrawals from Oxycontin and other opiate drugs.
Yes, Methadone will block other opioid drugs.
Yes it is. Methadone is often sold to people other than the user. So it is 100% necessary to include methadone on the list of drugs they test for to make sure that you are taking it. Giving methadone to somebody else can easily kill them. Your dose is designed for you, what is OK for you could kill somebody else. And if that should happen, you would be charged. You would be responsible for that. I am on methadone and they test us for it. METHADONE IS AUTOMATICALLY TESTED AT METHADONE CLINICS ALONG WITH OPIATES, BENZODIAZEPAM, COCAINE, ECT.
That would be defeating the object. If you are on a drugs program, they will slowly reduce your Methadone prescription and provide other support if needed.
Methadone does not is not bad. What you may think sucks, is that Methadone is given in place of other drugs, so you can break the drug habit. Try the methadone, and see how much better you will feel, once you kick the drug habit and then you will be able to say that ''drugs suck''.
mETHADONE AND sUBOXONE ARE 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DRUGS. tHE ONLY SIMILARITY IS THE FACT THAT THEY ARE BOTH OPIATE BLOCKERS. SUBOXONE IS A COMBO OF NALAXONE AND BUPRINORPHINE AND METHADONE IS,WELL, METHADONE. mETHADONE WILL GET YOU VERY HIGH AND IN MY OPINION LEADS TO USING OTHER DRUGS IN COMBINATION WITH IT. AFTER TAKING SUBOXONE FOR A WEEK YOU WILL NOT GET A BUZZ OFF OF IT ANYMORE AND YOU ARE OPEN TO HAVING A NORMAL LIFE AGAIN WITHOUT THE CONSTANT CRAVINGS FOR OTHER DRUGS. METHADONE IS JUST AN EASY SUBSTITUTE FOR HEROIN OR OTHER STRONG OPIATES. YOU GET JUST AS HIGH, IF NOT MORE SO AND YOU STILL CANNOT FUNCTION AND HAVE A REGULAR AND PRODUCTIVE LIFE THAT THE SUBOXONE PROVIDES.
Testing exists to ensure that methadone patients are actually taking their medication and not selling it on the black market. I'd like to elaborate on the above answer. Testing for Methadone assures that patients are taking their medications because most people that are taking Methadone are on a previous medication that is causing the withdrawal alot of Methadone users will sell the drug to get their drug of choice. Also they want to make sure the user is not abusing the drug by taking too much.
Methadone will only show up as methadone cause it is a synthetic opiate that requires its own specific test.
Yes you can. But it would be a waste for the most part. Methadone has blocking properties and will clog up your opiate receptors. Taking any opiate after Methadone is mostly useless. You will not feel any pleasurable effects from the other opiates. I have heard that taking other opiates with Methadone will help with pain, but that the euphoria of the opiate will not happen.
No.And I'm about 99% sure. I've been on methadone for over 6 years and staying clean off all other drugs(except weed maybe 1 time every 2-3months).
Sure there is no evidence the 2 drugs interact with each other.
