then it eats dirt.dirt has nutrients,it doesn't taste good,but it is harmless.
Dogs, just like people, can have pica. They eat strange things because they're lacking something in their diet that they're getting from whatever strange thing they're eating. Best to discuss it with a veterinarian to find out how to provide whatever nutrients the dog isn't getting. A diet consisting only of dirt would not be a healthy one.
