well if you have a history of period eregularity dont freak out just yet. wait a couple more days. if by day 20 you still havent had it, there could be a problem. you could be pregnent or it could be more serious. if you are exsperiencing any pain of discomfort you should see adoctor emediatly. it could be serious.

Retest one week after your missed period, some tests are sensitive enough to use the day your period is due but others are not.
