11 year-old Lily lives with her Mum, twin siblings Bliss and Baxter and 3 year old Pixie. When Mum goes out one night, she comes back drunk 'with love' as she has found herself a new boyfriend called Gordon. Gordon asks Mum on a date for the next night and Mum comes back in an even better mood with news that Gordon has asked her to come back to Spain with him on a holiday, and Mum instantly aggrees.

When Mum leaves for the airport, she is expecting her ex-boyfriend Mikey, (aka- Bliss and Baxters Dad) to come and take care of the kids, but when Lily phones him up, he is on his way to Scotland.

Lily finds a way to keep the days fun while Mum is away, and then, when the flat gets even more untidy, Lily knows a place where they can all keep safe and happy. Just think, sleeping in a tree with no flat to keep clean and they can run around to there hearts content! (Baxter go's as far as running around naked!)

But when Lily's school teacher gets suspicious of the four (he came around to their flat before they went to the park) and when they begin to run out of food, Lily wonders if they'll be able to keep their secret a secret for any longer...
