When a plant cell is placed in a hypo tonic solution it undergoes endosmosis thus the cell becomes turgid but in case of animal cell due to the absence of cell wall the cell may not withhold the turgour pressure and might blast.

Water rushes into the cell causing the cell to get bigger and could potentially lyse (burst) if too much enters. There is more solute (salt/sugar...) on the inside of the cell than the inside, so the water has to compensate for the imbalance, so it moves in. Think of hypOtonic, the cell gets big like an "O".

It increases its fluid intake. A hypotonic solution means that there is more solvent than solute comparitevely to what ever you compare it to. In this case the cell is the hypertonic solution so there is a smaller percentage of water than the hypotonic solution. When the cell is put in the hypotonic solution the water or fluid moves into the cell through osmosis or diffusion to get the cell and the solution to equilibrium.

There are three types of solutions that can occur in your body based on solute concentration: isotonic, hypotonic, and hypertonic. An isotonic solution is one in which the concentration of solutes is the same both inside and outside of the cell

I will take the cell to be animal cell. The hypotonic solution is taken as hypotonic saline solution. The cell get swollen in that case. There will be absorption of the water from the exterior of the cell. The biochemical cellular functions will be adversely affected. The cell may die if the solution is sufficiently hypotonic. Cell may get burst also.

When a cell is placed in a hypotonic solution, the cell absorbs water into the cell. A hypotonic solution contains fewer dissolved particles than is found in normal cells.

Water will enter the cell by osmosis, causing the cell to swell and possibly even burst.

A hypotonic solution contains less solutes than the cell. This means there will be a net movement of water into the cell. An animal cell will eventually burst in this situation.

What is a hypotonic solution what will happen to a cell placed in a hypotonic solution?

it swells and burst

What would happen if a cell placed in a hypotonic solution?

When a cell is placed in a Hypotonic solution, the water diffuses into the cell, causing the cell to swell and possibly explode.

When placed in a hypotonic solution what will happen to the cell?

If cells are placed in a hypotonic solution the cells gain water. The hypotonic solution has lower solute concentration then the cell's cytoplasm so the water will enter via osmosis.

What happens when water moves out of a cell if the cell is placed in a what solution?

Hypotonic Solution

What happent to a plant cell when placed in isotonic hypotonic and hypertonic solutions?

When placed in an isotonic solution nothin will happen to the cell, but when placed in a hypotonic solution the cell will implode (not explode, thus the water will push the cell on itself until implosion occurs.) Last but not least a hypertonic solution will cause the cell to explode by too much water entering the cell because there is already more water in the cell then in the solution. So the simple answer is: Isotonic solution= nothing, hypotonic solution= implosion, and hypertonic solution= explosion.

What would happen if you put liver cell in a hyptonic solution?

If an animal cell is placed in a hypotonic solution, there will be a net movement of water into the cell and it will eventually burst. If an animal cell is placed in a hypertonic solution, there will be a net movement of water out of the cell and it will shrink.

Hypotonic solution

Water enters a cell when the solution surrounding the cell is?

Hypotonic- i think. Hypertonic is when it shrinks and Lyses is when the cell burts from swelling too much. We did it with blood cells in my Anatomy and Physiology class.

Why does a cell placed in hypotonic solution swell?

water flows into the cell

When a cell is placed in a hypotonic solution will the flow of water be in or out of the cell?

The water will flow out of the cell.

What happens to plant cells when placed in a hypotonic solution?

When a plant cell is placed in an hypotonic solution it becomes swollen and hard. The cell takes in water by osmosis and starts to swell, but the cell wall prevents it from bursting.
