It behaves like a human's mind instead of a computer. Emotions are a normal part of mental processes. We must learn to recognize and deal with them in order to function normally, not try to keep them from intervening....because, try as we may, we can't stop them. Ignoring emotions is like cleaning the kitchen by sweeping everything into the closet. Eventually, someone is going to have to clean the closet, and it is likely to be a real mess.
Emotions are part of the conscious mind, as well as the subconscious. When emotions are involved, the conscious mind is working normally. It is suppression of emotions that is abnormal.

The unconscious (subconscious) mind sorts through emotions, thoughts and experiences of the day while the conscious mind rests in sleep. Different areas of the brain become active in different stages of the sleep cycle, and this activity can be traced in sleep laboratories with computer imaging. Dreams are visualizations produced by the subconscious mind during this sorting process. Dreams also bring old memories to awareness and release tension from pent-up emotions. See attached link.
