The energy that doesnt reach earth just goes out into the universe. Say that energy comes from the sun, well by the time it would've reached earth it would've spanned and expanded out so we (earth) would only receive a portion of the energy than what was previously released from the sun. :)

Energy from the Sun that strikes the Earth is either absorbed or reflected. There are no other possibilities.

Some of the energy that is absorbed by the Earth is re-radiated back into space after a while. The remainder is retained, often in the form of plant growth. In the case of trees, some of the stored energy is released when the wood is burned. The coal, oil, and other "fossil" fuels that we burn for heat now are actually the solar energy that was absorbed by plants millions of years ago.

The sun doesn't emit heat. It emits radiation in the form of photons (light) and other radiation. Radiation (including light) is only converted to heat when it strikes an object. Any radiation emitted by the sun will eventually hit some object (the earth, other planets, asteroids, etc) and become heat, fall into a black hole, or continue to wander through the universe contributing to background radiation.

It simply doesn't reach Earth. It might end up reaching another planet or object, or it could continue radiating into space forever.

All of the energy that strikes the Earth is re-radiated back into space; if this weren't true, the Earth would have burned up long ago.
