A gecko drops its tail as a defense mechanism induced by fear. When a predator approaches, the gecko is able is drop the tail and leave it behind to entice the predator. However, the gecko then loses the fat stored in its tail that will keep it healthy during times when food is harder to find.
Dont panic, it normal. your gecko tail fell off for some reason that may be the following: it was bit by a cricket, stuck, hurt, pulled, yanked, touched (hard), pushed (hard),and many more reasons. The geckos tail will grow back, but not as long, it will be much shorter, but don't worry. This happens to a lot of geckos. It happened to my brothers. Just make sure your gecko is doing fine.
It's a defence mechanism - common to other species as well as Geckos. If you grab a Gecko by the tail, it can sever the tail at the point it joins the body - in order to escape. The tail usually grows back over a lengthy period - but it's still a traumatic occurrence for the lizard !
Yes, it is very common for leopard geckos to "release" their tails. In the wild, they will release their tail if they feel threatened, and the predator will be distracted by the moving tail. The tail will eventually grow back, but it will be deformed.
only the fat tailed geckos tail can delach and grow back but only to distact an enemey.
It Grows back but painfully, dont touch the tail or you will infect
If you grab it or pinch it in something it will come off. At times they can loose their tail if another crested bites it.
The gecko will grow a new one, and the tail that fell of will simply decompose normally.
geckos will drop their tails wherever they are; if that's in the wild or even in their cage.
There stupid and cut it of themself
No
why do geckos tail fall off
if they are being hunted and caught by the tail their tail will fall off and they will be able to escape. dont try this because if its tail falls off you will have to feed you leopard gecko more often because it stores all of its food in its tail.
you dont. simply let it come off its self. if there is a problem< the gecko will eat it off.
Tadpole's tails do not fall off by themselves, but they can be bitten off. I do not know if their tails grow back. I am trying to figure that out right now because 4 of my tadpole's tails got bitten off.
No, don't worry it will grow back with in a year, maybe more, but I would try to make sure is doesn't happen again, Most lizards have the ability of losing their tails to get away from their predators
NO NO NO NO NO NO IT NEVER CAN AND NEVER WILL
No, a donkey's tail does not fall off. This is in reference to the animal. However, donkey tail plants do tend to fall off.
not when scared, when caught
Yes.
Mostly geckos, but they grow back
