2 to 4 days after contact you will have fever, tonsillitis and a widespread scarlet rash. The tongue is coated with a thick white material then goes bright red, the "strawberry tongue" caused by Streptococcus bacteria which release toxins. Antibiotics shorten the illness and reduce the risk of longer term complications.

Patches of yellow may be in the back of them throat.
